Snow White vs. Snow White

It's official. Now we can take a glimpse of both the Snow White movies that are coming out in 2012. Let the war begins.

Snow White and the Huntsman

Mirror, Mirror

Snow White and the Huntsman: I like the dark take on Snow White. The premise is exciting. It takes Snow White in a direction we haven’t seen before. However, I'm not yet sold on this movie. The CGI looks bad, in I-can-tell-it's-not-real kind of way. And this trailer is not enough to make me judge the performances. I'll just wait the full length trailer and see what happens.

Mirror, Mirror: This trailer on the other hand got me intrigued. It reminded of Ella Enchanted which I loved. I can't tell how the performances are. This looks like a fun movie in general, so I'm definitely going to check it out
.

It's really interesting how the two movies take their own spin on the classic tale into two different directions. What those two movie trailers seem to have in common is they both seem more focused on the Evil Queen rather than Snow White herself.

Snow White and the Huntsman will be released on June 1, 2012 and Mirror, Mirror on March 12, 2012.

Trailer Thoughts: The Hunger Games

Consider me a satisfied fun!

I was excited to see this trailer but at the same time trying not to keep my expectations too high. I had no idea what was I worried about! I think this trailer should please any fan of the books.

As an adaptation, I feel it’s going to be solid  judging from this trailer, it’s obvious that Director Gary Ross has a huge respect for the original material. It fellows the book very well. There are some changes of course, but that’s to be expected from every adaptation. I love that it doesn’t show much. If you looked at it from the perspective of people who never read the books, they’d think they saw half the movie. I’d say this trailer shows 25% of what’s actually in the movie. It doesn’t show much, but it still makes you excited. Whoever made this trailer deserves very high praise.

My favorite scene id the countdown at the end. I’m so ready to see the movie now. Another scene that I really loved was when Katniss volunteered to take her sister’s place. Somehow it reminded me how it felt when I read the book for the first time.

The visuals look fantastic. It’s mostly bluish in this trailer, but I think it fits the story very well. If this movie turned out to be as good as expected, I wish they would keep the same production team for the rest if the series. Although I know it’s difficult, but I’d love for a movie series to have a consistent look. I’d understand if that didn’t end up happening though. This is something even the Harry Potter series couldn’t succeed in. (HP movies are still great though)

I have nothing bad to say about the performances. Jennifer Lawrence looks great as Katniss. I was rooting for her from the start. I’m expecting great things from her in this movie. I honestly couldn’t see him at all as Peeta (look wise) before, but after seeing this trailer,  I thought, “Now I see why they choose you.”

In short for the rest of the cast (or at least the ones we saw), Liam Hemsworth is such a Gale. Effie looks like freak it's awesome. Stanley Tucci: Wow. Willow Shields is as darling as you'd expect Prim to be. Lenny Kravitz makes for a wonderful Cinna.

I admit the actors do look a little older than they should, but it’s no body’s fault really. I’m ready to overlook that as long as the performances are great.

The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23, 2012.

The story in short takes place a futuristic world where 24 teenagers are forced to fight to the death on live TV. Only the winner survives.
